The Moon Circle

The “Moon Circle” training course took place from 26 July to 1 August 2025 in the town of Ivančice in the Czech Republic. The project brought together youth workers and participants from Belgium, Hungary, Georgia, and the Czech Republic to explore the topic of menstrual health education and open conversations about menstruation. Through workshops, discussions, and non-formal learning activities, participants gained practical tools and knowledge they can now use in their own youth work and communities.

The project focused on supporting girls and young women, breaking menstrual taboos, and raising awareness about menstrual poverty and possible solutions. “Moon Circle” was co-funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ and coordinated by Mladiinfo ČR together with partner organizations JOETZ International, Street of Youth Association, and Union Georgian Youth for Europe.

International learning environment

One of the strongest aspects of the project was the international atmosphere and the safe space created for sharing experiences and perspectives. Participants had the opportunity to discuss topics that are often still considered taboo in many societies and to learn from each other through open conversations and collaborative activities.

The program combined educational workshops with interactive methods of non-formal education, allowing participants to exchange ideas, reflect on social challenges connected to menstruation, and explore ways youth workers can support young people more effectively.

Experience as a participant of Moon Circle

“Moon Circle” was my first Erasmus+ training and the perfect first experience, and now I’m wondering if it could get any better than this? Our organizers Sabina, Eliška and Simona were super hardworking, and amazing for giving birth to this incredible project from start to finish during their holidays. I was truly inspired by all the other participants from Belgium, Georgia and Czechia. I believe this project has been a seed, water, sunlight for all of our ideas to prosper in the future.

The Moon CircleOpen conversations and practical learning

Throughout the week, participants explored ways to create open and stigma-free discussions about menstruation within youth work and local communities. The project encouraged participants to reflect on cultural differences, social barriers, and the importance of accessible menstrual health education.

The training also emphasized practical learning and peer exchange. Participants not only gained new knowledge about menstrual health and menstrual poverty, but also discovered methods and activities they can apply in future workshops, youth exchanges, and educational programs.

Beyond the educational part of the project, participants appreciated the supportive atmosphere, international friendships, and the opportunity to connect with people who are passionate about creating positive social change.
